“Now, do you have any questions?”, and they spice it up with a smile. You can just guess it is a trick question. This may just as well confuse you. Freaky smile and a stupid question about questions.
If you had questions you would ask, you do not need their invitation. Or do you?
If you went so far without asking a question we are in trouble. You did not show any initiative or real interest for the job. It is strictly forbidden in the Gospel of Job Interviews to just answer what comes your way. You ask smart questions. If you are wondering what could be a potential smart question to ask on a job interview I will tell you. Soon. Not just yet. I want to tell you more about how wrong it is not to ask questions. Job interview is a two way street.
According to John Kador, these are the 10 attitude strikeouts that most often condemn job candidates:
1. Doesn’t ask questions
2. Condemnation of past employer
3. Inability to take criticism
4. Poor personal appearance
5. Indecisive, cynical, lazy
6. Overbearing, overly aggressive, “know-it-all”
7. Late to interview
8. Failure to look at interviewer while interviewing
9. Unable to express self clearly
10. Overemphasis on money
I will include this top list on my own that I will name - Wandering Interviewee To Do List. One day, when you read all my articles you will laugh at the silly mistakes and naivety of a wandering interviewee. But remember, we were all once wandering without even realizing. A wandering interviewee has good intentions, he is humble and willing to fight for his place under the sun. We can safely call him eager. He is not appreciated by the industry. It is a classic case of misunderstanding.
